- Drafting framing plan using AutoCAD.
Module 4: Drafting Ground Floor and First Floor Framing Connection Details based on Australian Standards (AS/NZS)
- Learning about the standard connections between structural elements in residential timber framing based on Australian codes and standards (i.e. AS1684) in order to deliver a buildable and practical design and detailing.
- Detailing timber connections (timber beam to timber post, timber beam to timber beam, etc.) based on Australian codes and standards such as AS1720, AS1684, etc.
- Detailing steel connections (steel beam to steel column) based on AS4100.
- Detailing combined connections (timber beam to steel column) based on AS4100, AS1720, etc.
- Drafting connection details using AutoCAD.
Module 5: Bracing Design and Detailing for Ground Floor and First Floor based on Australian Standards (AS/NZS)
- Calculating wind load acting on timber structure/framing based on AS1170.2, AS4055.
- Learning about detailing and bracing capacity of different bracing techniques based on AS1684 and implementing the code's requirements in order to provide adequate bracing for a residential timber frame dwelling.
- Drafting bracing plan and bracing details using AutoCAD.
Module 6: Footing Design and Detailing based on Australian Standards
- Learning about different footing systems used in residential projects in Australia based on AS2870 and discussing the code requirements for each system.
- Learning the terminology used in AS2870 and geotechnical reports in order to design a footing based on Australian Standards.
- Learning how to read Geotechnical Reports (using real-life reports) and how to extract all necessary factors such as reactivity, controlled fill, uncontrolled fill, etc., that are needed to start footing design.

"Having recently finished my degree and never got a chance of working on any real-life projects after graduated. This course had provided the knowledge and skills that able to fill the gap between the fresh graduate structural engineer and the workplace. The contents of the course were well organized and explained. She also shared some of her work experiences during the course. I would highly recommend anyone with the same issue as me to take this course."

"Moly is a great teacher. She really cares for her students/trainees. She relates everything that she teaches to actual practice in the field of Structural Engineering.
This course has boosted my confidence to successfully complete real life projects from start to the end based on Australian Standards and Codes."

"The experience and knowledge gained from this course were above all expectations. The course was well structured and detailed. The steps created to design a single storey were clear and reinforced throughout the course. The most impressive part of the course was the ability of the trainer to tie together the construction and design knowledge. She was able to provide insightful details about common designing mistakes that inexperienced engineers can make because of the lack of knowledge about common construction materials and architectural limitations."
